The Experience

Welcome to the Canadian Rockies Experience

This camp is situated in the beautiful Canadian Rocky Mountains in the Province of Alberta.
It is world-renowned for it's focus on leadership and community development!
Students from around the world can apply to attend camp and experience staying with a host family. A unique blend of Albertan and International students helps foster a healthy, happy, caring, and supportive international community at camp. Students will return home to their communities with new leadership knowledge and skills.
Combining daily leadership lessons with traditional Canadian activities, such as hiking, horseback riding, campfires and a barn dance, students will develop lasting skills and relationships. These fun activities combined with the Challenge Program,
Country Presentations and the Friendship Circle create a life-changing experience for everyone involved.

Accommodations

Due to the forest fires of 2017, the Waterton Lions Leadership Camp is now being temporarily hosted at the Island Lake Retreat Center. Students will share the two main floor dormitories and central washrooms, as well as a kitchen and beautiful outdoor areas.

Most Camp activities will take place outside so students should check the packing list below for all the supplies they need to bring.

All meals and snacks will be provided by the camp and students cannot keep any food in their dorm rooms or backpack due to the bear population that lives near the camp. Any specialty food items students bring will need to be stored in the camp kitchen. As well, if you have special dietary needs please be sure to make note of them on your medical form.

Camp Rules

Picture
We want to ensure the camp experience is safe and fun for everyone involved so there are four simple rules that must be adhered to at all times.

1. No Drinking Alcohol
2. No Drugs (Cigarettes and Vapes Included)
3. No Dating
4. No Driving (Students who drive to camp will be asked to hand over their keys for the week)

Students who break these rules will be asked to leave camp and return home.
